About Us
Yedaiah’s House, Inc. (YHI) was born out of the necessity of addressing the social and housing needs of those who are displaced and in need. It is this commitment at the very top of the organizational structure that drives how homeless persons are handled – very carefully and with utmost respect. We want to do something about the homeless challenges our returning residents face. Yedaiah’s House, Inc. (YHI) allows people in transition, to be placed in residences, closer to their families and communities. Residents are treated with the utmost care and respect because of our personal commitment. Yedaiah’s House, Inc. (YHI) teams up with a wide range of social services that facilitate this urgent need. We continue to move forward with this charge because of the urgent need in assisting NYC's most vulnerable populations. By expanding our residential sites across the five boroughs, strengthening our social services for our clients, and providing the best employment opportunities for our staff, we continue to be committed to providing the highest level of residential services. Our goal is to expand across all five boroughs and hire more employees who will work for the community.
Andrew Mitchell
My name is Andrew Mitchell, I work as an Insurance Adjuster for major carriers, supporting individuals and families during disasters and displacement. I have lived and worked for more than 30 years in the Bronx with roots throughout the Caribbean including Cuba and Jamaica. I have worked as an outreach coordinator and supportive case manager, working, and partnering with organizations to support underserved communities. During my time working in these communities, I have seen the disparity as it pertains to housing for people facing challenges with substance abuse, returning residents and victims of domestic violence. This is what inspired me to form Yedaiah’s House. My goal is to help create a place of acceptance filled with the warmth of a caring environment. The motto is “A HOME AWAY FROM HOME.” Our staff and directors have more than 20 years of experience providing social services throughout New York City. We are pleased to offer these services to those who need it the most.
